ITIL 3 Publications in German and in French
The entire set of ITIL® 3 core volumes have now been translated into German. The translations into French are under way, and The Introduction to ITIL Service Lifecycle has already been announced. Members of itSMF may order these publications via the itSMF web site at a discount.

ITIL 3 Managing Across the Lifecycle Qualification Examination
The new ITIL® 3 Qualification Examination Managing across the Lifecycle is planned for January 2009. By passing this examination, together with the Foundation examination and Intermediate level exams, candidates may achieve Expert level certification, which replaces the ITIL® 2 Manager level qualification. Autumn 2008
ITIL 3 Intermediate Qualification Examinations
The new set of ITIL® 3 Intermediate Level Qualification Examinations will become available throughout this Autumn. These examinations fall into two streams: the Capability stream and the Lifecycle stream. The Capability stream more or less replaces the ITIL® 2 Practitioner Examinations. The Lifecycle stream emphasizes the integration of processes during each phase of the service lifecycle. ITIL® 3 Foundation certification is a prerequisite for these examinations. ITIL 3 Examinations in French
APMG and its agents have announced the availability of the ITIL 3 Foundation and the ITIL® 3 Foundation Bridging certification examinations in French, German and Danish. Concentric Circle Consulting will provide training in French to prepare candidates for both the Foundation Examination and the Foundation Bridging Examination.

ISO 17799:2005 renamed
ISO 17799:2005, the international standard for Information Security Management, has been renamed to ISO 27002. This standard has heavily influenced ITIL's vision of Security Management. A related standard, BS7799, has been fast-tracked for approval as ISO 27001.

ISO 20000
ISO 20000, the international standard for IT Service Management, has been adopted. The standard, based on BS15000, will all IT Service Organizations to be certified. Concentric Circle Consulting will support IT Service Organizations in preparing for certification.

itSMF Suisse romande meeting
The itSMF Suisse romande met on 24 February 2005 in Geneva at the headquarters of the Services Industriels de Genève. More than 100 attendees heard presentations by ISACA, Altria, cosba Private Bank and Serono Inernational. The Service Management Round Table (SMART) was announced. SMART provides a users-only forum for more advanced organizations to discuss service management issues in detail. Contact Serge Thorn (serge.thorn@itsmf.ch) for more details.

New ITIL Volume due soon
The publication of the final volume of the ITIL series (version 2) has been announced. "The Business Perspective" should be available as of mid-November 2004. And not a moment too soon, as the project to start writing version 3 of ITIL will start in the next few months.

German ITIL terms validated
itSMF Germany has now released a list of authorized German translations of ITIL terms. The list, and a set of translation rules, are available at the ITSM Portal.

itSMF Switzerland Meeting at Zürich
A meeting of itSMF Switzerland on 4 November 2004 in Zürich attracted about 50 attendees. Presentations were made by Russell Simo Kamga, cosba private banking AG; David Wheeldon, Chairman of itSMF International, "BS 15000 - a Driver for Service Improvement"; Mohammed Siam, Hewlett-Packard GmbH; Mathias Traugott, Swisscom Mobile AG; and Beat Antener, Die Schweizerische Post.

A meeting was held on 7 October 2004 in Meyrin. The highlights included presentations by Richemont International and by the Swiss Federal IT Strategy organization about their recent projects.

itSMF Switzerland Extraordinary Meeting
The Swiss chapter of the itSMF held an extraordinary meeting on 14 May 2994 at Olten. During this meeting the size of the association's council was increased from 3 persons to 6 persons. Among the newly named members is Mr. Serge Thorn of Serono International SA, who is now responsible for organizing itSMF Suisse romande.

itSMF Suisse romande - first meeting
The first meeting of the Romandie chapter of the itSMF was held on 31 March 2004 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva. Some 65 attendees listened to presentations by Nicholas Smith of Orange Communications, and Stephan Dittrich of Ciba Spécialité Chimiques Monthey (who is also president of the itSMF Switzerland).

Announcing the creation of a chapter of itSMF in Suisse romande
The Swiss chapter of the itSMF was one of the earliest chapters to be created outside of the United Kingdom. Currently, this chapter is closely related to the German and Austrian chapters and is essentially germanophone in nature. With 2004 there will be two important developments in the Swiss itSMF: the web site (www.itsmf.ch) will gain a Swiss character, and a sub-group based in Suisse romande will be created. In order to succeed, we need volunteers to help translate documents into French and English, to volunteer to host meetings, to suggest topics for meetings, and to prepare presentations for these meetings.

The Swiss chapter of the itSMF joined with the ITPIN Special Interest Group of SwissICT in presenting IT Services-Management - Fakten, Erfahrungen, Perspektiven, on 22 October in Zürich. There were more than 90 attendees.

…and itSMF in Denmark, too!
The Danish chapter of the itSMF was launched on 4 March 2003, and their first annual conference was held on 27-28 October 2003 in Copenhagen, with about 70 attendees. Robert Falkowitz, Director of Concentric Circle Consulting, was invited to deliver a paper there on "Optimizing Availability".

Service Management Seminar in Geneva
Concentric Circle Consulting sponsored a seminar on Service Management, Best Practice and ITIL in Geneva on 3 October. A presentation by Francisco Esteve of Nestlé about the Globe project and ITIL was very highly appreciated. A strong interest in itSMF in Suisse romande was manifested.
